What time is it?

A few weeks back it was the weekend for putting the clocks back. They were meant to go back on Thursday night with Friday being 'winter' time. The Friday in question was a confusing day, no one knew whether the clocks had changed or not...on Saturday still no one knew. On Sunday, the beginning of the working week, still no word on the clocks. What had happened was that the Prime Minister hadn't signed the form authorising the change...

There were letters to the papers for and against the change but in the end it stayed the same. So that means that Dhaka is 6 hrs behind NZ and 7 hrs in front of the UK.

Strangely, instead of 'summer time' and 'winter time' or even 'old' and 'new' time, some people call summer time 'analog' time and winter time 'digital' time!

Another great timing idea that happened recently is to try to help relieve the traffic congestion, which is a complete nightmare. The solution they decided on was to stagger the opening hours of schools and offices. So schools start at 9 am and offices at 10 am. What this has actually done is double the traffic on the road as before the children and parents were sharing the lift to work, but now, the driver drops the children and then comes back to pick up the parents!

They also trialled taking the bicycle rickshaws off the roads in the belief that they were slowing down the traffic causing jams. Most other places are trying to get more people onto bikes! Needless to say it didn't work...

Ah well, I am still walking most places - it's so much quicker!
