I miss the grass
For a while now I've been missing the grass. It hasn't rained for months and everything is covered with a thick layer of reddish brown dust. When you go out, you come back feeling thirsty and with a very dirty face! Also because of the lack of rain the sky is filled with dust, and what the Bangladeshis call 'fog'. I'm suspicious about this word; I think there is some fog, but it pretty much looks like smoggy pollution to me. Most of the ground in Dhaka is either concrete (with the trees trapped and growing out of it), dirt or rubbish. So all this combined makes a city where the sky is greyish-pale blue, the ground is grey, the trees are brown and of course the water is sewage-brown/grey/black. My eyes feel starved of colour and when I was out today, I passed some water pipes - one was orange, one was yellow, one was green and one was red. They were so pretty, I couldn't stop looking at them! So much colour!
