Once the big bits of wood have been used for a religious purpose then they can't throw them out. Apparently it will take a month to build then it will be wheeled around. Not sure what else will happen then.

God of Compassion
Down the road they are building a tower dedicated to the God of Compassion. It's quite an impressive structure and sticks out halfway into the road. Today it had it's own security guard and a traffic policeman directing on the now-one-lane road. It's been interesting watching them build it. They soak the straw in the nearby pool and men have been right up on the top lashing them on. It seems a community activity as there's quite a bit of chanting as ropes are pulled and hammers hammered.
