So a quick break over the Dashain holidays eh...seems like a great idea. Brian (my American friend) and I decided to head for the Langtang region. Well more my choice than his as he had been already and knew what the road was like north from Kathmandu. Can you really drive a bus over that? If you're Nepali you can. Yes this is the bus on a landslide at which point we got out and walked until the bus got to the other side. The road to Syraphru Bensi is like this for kilometers. It took five hours to cover just 45 kms and it is 120 kms from Kathmandu! Fortunately for us our "Easy Rider" was a private bus otherwise we may have been packed inside or on the roof, as many of the public buses we passed en route!! It takes around 10 hours in total or 30 minutes if you shell out $2000 for a chopper.
We opted for a jeep on the way back at a very reasonable rupees 4000 each.
