The Langtang valley region, as much of northern Nepal is actually inhabited by Tibetans. Here is an interesting way to automatically disperse your prayers by the use of water power. The large scree slope covered "hill" behind is Tsergo Ri, which we ascended two days later.
There are also a large contingent of Yak up in the valley. The story goes something like, a Tibetan lama chasing a runaway Yak discovered the valley and hence the name Lang (Tibetan for Yak) and tang (or dhang, meaning "to follow").
The top at last! The last 500m was tough. You can really feel the altitude and lack of oxygen (plus being unfit probably!)
Some views from the top. The valley floor below and north toward the Tibetan border.
Prayer flags on Tsergo Ri summit.
The next morning...snow! Only around one inch, but still very exciting. This is when we were heading back down. 2500m in two days up and now one day to go down. 10 hours later we made Syraphru Bensi and some well deserved chilli chicken and chilli potatoes before our final night and then back to Kathmandu...Oh no the road again!!
